Lavatrice: istruzione per l'uso - How to use my washing-machine

Spiegazione delle comode manopole: la prima partendo da sinistra è quella che regola i minuti di lavaggio, quella centrale (grazie alla quale imparerete anche una nuova parola in francese, vidange) è per aprire lo scarico, quella di destra imposta la centrifuga.  

Explanation of the handy handles: the first from the left is for the lenght of the washing, the one in the middle (thanks to which you will learn a new French word, vidange) opens the outlet, the one on the right set the spin-dryer up. 

Per fare il vostro bucato prendete i vostri panni sporchi (non troppi) e posizionateli nel cestello di sinistra. Intanto, prendete il tubo che trovate accanto al frigorifero, infilatelo nel foro sopra le manopole e aprite il rubinetto: il cestello della vostra lavatrice si riempirà di ottima acqua fredda che la lavatrice, naturalmente, NON riscalderà.

 

To do your washing take your clothes (not too many) and put them in the basket on the left. Meanwhile, take the pipe you will find next to the fridge, stick it into the hole over the handles and open the tap: the basket of your washing-machine will be filled by excellent cold water that the machine, of course, will NOT heat.

A questo punto, versate la quantità desiderata di detersivo; farete bene a desiderarne poco, perché il risciacquo è manuale (vedi oltre) e in ogni caso il detersivo costa come due cene al ristorante.

Now, pour the desired amount of detergent; you’d better desire little of it, because the rinse is by hand (see further) and anyway the detergent costs as much as two dinners at a restaurant.

Girate la manopola di sinistra molte, numerose, innumerevoli volte, finché la lavatrice non decide di partire. In ogni caso, state attenti che non vi rimanga in mano (la manopola, non la lavatrice).

Turn the left handle many many many times, till the washing-machine decides to start working. In any case, pay attention not to break it (the handle, not the washing-machine).

Al termine del lavaggio (che dura solitamente tra i due e i cinque minuti) trovate un modo per sciacquare i vostri panni. Si consiglia di aprire nuovamente il rubinetto e sciacquare un capo alla volta sotto il getto piacevolmente gelido.

 

At the end of the washing (which usually lasts between two and five minutes) find a way to rinse your clothes. We suggest you to open  the tap again and rinse one piece at a time under the nicely icy jet.

A questo punto mettete pochi vestiti alla volta nella centrifuga, che è l'unica parte della lavatrice a funzionare bene (se mettete pochi vestiti, appunto). Infine, stendete i vostri panni "puliti" sul comodo e ampio terrazzo.

Now put a few clothes in the spin-dryer, which is the only part of the washing-machine that works well (but only if you put a few pieces at a time). Finally, lay your "clean" clothes on the spacious terrace.
